COVID19: J&K Police use drones to make announcements, keep vigil | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 23 (KNO): Amid restrictions across Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory police on Monday used drones to monitor the situation in the Valley and also make an appeal to people to stay indoors. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Jammu and Kashmir police are using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) to disseminate the message to people not to venture out of Srinagar, the summer capital of Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir.

“Drones are been used to keep a strict vigil. People have been asked to stay inside door for their safety. Drones are also being used to check whether there is any violation of prohibitory orders so that necessary action is taken,” a senior police official told—KNO. In a video shared from the official account of Jammu and Kashmir (@Kashmir Zone Police), police personnel can be seen spreading the message via the drone asking people to stay inside and not come out if it's not necessary.

According to data made available by the Union Territory Jammu & Kashmir and Health and Family Welfare Ministry, there are 4 confirmed coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir, and around 4,000 people are under observation. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Haseeb Mughal said that they have been using drones to keep vigil on whole area so as to stop people from gathering and the areas where they can't reach. “We are sending recorded messages through drones so that people won't gather at any place,” he said. He said that action will be taken against those found violating the government orders. “I request people not to come out of their homes unnecessarily and avoid any social, political and religious gathering,” he said – (KNO)
